Pieces are priced using a formula that factors in two different levels of labor (depending on the step of the process) for time and factors in the cost of materials.
Some materials are more expensive and difficult to procure. For example, pink glass is much more expensive than other colors because it requires gold chloride to be created. Since there’s currently a “gold shortage”, it’s more expensive.
Dichroic Glass is also an expensive material, so dichroic pieces are, in turn, more expensive.
Size is not always an indicator of cost. Larger pieces of glass are easier to work with in many ways, so sometimes smaller takes more time.
All of these factors contribute to final pricing for pieces.
